The Toronto Raptors lost their first game of the NBA restart against the Boston Celtics and while it wasn’t a great result, the team definitely learned a lesson.
Looking at the score updates from the Toronto Raptors‘ loss to the Boston Celtics you almost had to wipe your eyes and blink a couple of times to make sure what you were seeing was real.
Considering how dominant the team looked in their first three games, it was perplexing to see them struggle against an opponent they might go up against in the playoffs. It was clear that the Raptors’ offence wasn’t firing as they struggled to get close to 40 points in the first half and were trailing 91-57 heading into the fourth quarter.

No matter how good the team’s defence has been this season and in the three games since the league returned, no team is going to be able to overcome a poor offensive outing like the Raptors had.
You would also think that the Raptors would remember what happened to them on Christmas Day when they had a whopping 19 points in the opening quarter of that game. This also showed that Boston has figured out a gameplan for the Raptors which is to force Toronto to make tough contested shots and their offence can go on runs.
However, as many negatives as there were in this game, the Raptors have proven to bring the mentality when it matters and Nick Nurse will pick apart this game to prepare for a potential series against the Celtics. One obvious change would be to put OG Anunoby on Jason Tatum since he is a big part of their offence even though he didn’t do as much on Friday.
Regardless, the Raptors have proven that they can block out the noise and not let one loss do away with an entire season’s worth of hard work. They still have a chance to clinch the No. 2 seed which should remind people of where this team has come from and where they plan to go.
