Through 20 games this season, Harden is the league’s leading scorer with an average of 39.5 points per game. There’s still a lot of basketball to be played between now and the playoffs, but that’s the third-highest single season scoring average in NBA history.
The only player ahead of Harden? Wilt Chamberlain, who averaged 50.4 points per game in 1961-62 and 44.8 points per game in 1962-63.
Even with how effective the Raptors have been this season in slowing down All-Stars, there’s a good chance Harden will have a big scoring game against Toronto.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the most points ever scored by an opponent against the Raptors with an assist from Basketball Reference.
On Jan. 22, 2006, Bryant made history by scoring 81 points against the Raptors. He shot 28-for-46 from the field, 7-for-13 from the 3-point line and 18-for-20 from the free throw line in a Lakers win.
With Bryant’s performance, he became only the second player to score 80 or more points in an NBA game. Chamberlain still holds the record for the most points scored with 100.
The highest scoring game by an opponent in Toronto. James finished with a double-double, scoring 56 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. It wasn’t enough for the Cavaliers to get a win, however, as Jalen Rose (30 points) and Donyell Marshall (24 points) led the Raptors to a 105-98 victory.
Iverson had two 50-point games against the Raptors in the 2001 playoffs. He scored 54 points in Game 2 to even the series at 1-1, followed by 52 points in Game 5 to give the 76ers a 3-2 lead.
The Raptors would force a Game 7, but the 76ers prevailed to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Durant has scored 50 points against the Raptors twice in his NBA career, once with the Warriors, once with the Thunder. Both came in Toronto in tightly contested games.
On March 21, 2014, Durant scored 51 points in a double overtime win for the Thunder. On Nov. 29, 2018, Durant scored 51 points in an overtime loss for the Warriors.
Durant went toe-to-toe with Kawhi Leonard in that game, with Leonard scoring a season-high at the time of 37 points.
51 – Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers
Another 50-point game for Iverson, this one in the regular season. It came in a loss for the 76ers, as Vince Carter’s 39 points led the Raptors to a win.
Crawford is the only player in NBA history to have a 50-point game with four different teams. One of those 50-point performances came against the Raptors when he was with the Chicago Bulls.
Last but not least, Lillard is the sixth player in NBA history to have scored 50 or more points against the Raptors. Once again, the Raptors managed to come away with the win despite Lillard’s 50-point outburst thanks to a combined 66 points from DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry.
