Raptors sign and waive Canadian guard Tyler Ennis

The Toronto Raptors added some Canadian content to their roster, then promptly removed it.

Toronto signed guard Tyler Ennis then waived him Saturday, according to the NBA’s official transaction list. If Ennis clears waivers, the Raptors would retain his rights, giving them the chance to assign him to the G League’s Raptors 905.

Ennis’s last taste of NBA action came as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017-18. The former first-round pick suited up 54 times that season, averaging 4.1 points and 1.9 assists in roughly 13 minutes per game.

The Brampton, Ont., native took his talents to Turkey in 2018, signing a two-year deal with Fenerbahce. The contract included an opt-out for the second year if Ennis was presented with an NBA opportunity.

His EuroLeague stint came to a halt after just three games when he suffered a broken leg while driving to the basket. The 25-year-old is still working his way back from that gruesome injury.
