Annual charity golf tournament continues support for communities in need

With strict health & safety protocols in place to protect participants, IAMGOLD was pleased to host its 9th Annual Charity Golf Classic on September 14 at Eagle’s Nest Golf Course in Maple, north of Toronto. Once again, we were blessed with good weather and generous sponsors. The event was a great success with every penny raised going to support organizations that help individuals realize their potential and strengthen communities: Giants of Africa (which received $175,000) and Saint Elizabeth Foundation (which received $25,000).

In a year where a decline in charitable events has created funding challenges for organizations that support communities, the Golf Classic attracted outstanding support: 32 sponsor companies with guests including the coach of the Toronto Raptors 905, Jama Mahlalela, and Toronto Raptors assistant coach (the youngest in the NBA) Brittni Donaldson. This special occasion drew out a special performance from the winning team which completed the course at 18 under par, an Eagle’s Nest record!

Tournament Chair, Tony Moreau, Corporate Business Development Team, commented: ‘Thanks to all our community partners and our corporate team, we were able to have a wonderful day out while protecting each other from COVID-19. I also want to thank our partners at Côté Gold (who were a major reason why we were able to sell 16 spots in just a few weeks) and Giants of Africa Founder and President, Toronto RaptorsMasai Ujiri for his words of encouragement. We’re already looking forward to hosting our 10th Golf Classic on June 3, 2021!’

Please visit the event’s silent auction(open until Tuesday, September 22 @ 5 PM EST) if you’d like to help raise more money for two wonderful causes.
