How recent former Raptors are faring with their new teams – The Athletic


This coming week was poised to be a great one for lovers of Toronto Raptors nostalgia.

On Tuesday night, the Lakers were scheduled to make their only trip to Scotiabank Arena. And while there is no love lost for LeBron James, that was set to be Danny Green’s first visit to Toronto since he left for Los Angeles in July. And then on the following Saturday and Monday, the Raptors had a home-and-home with the Memphis Grizzlies on tap. The Naismith Cup was not on the line, but the trip to Memphis was set to be Marc Gasol’s first since his February 2019 trade, while Jonas Valanciunas was going to make his first appearance in Toronto as a visiting player two nights later. That moment, especially, would have been very cool, even if he was in attendance for a playoff game last spring.

We will have to wait for those to happen at a later date. The suspension of the NBA calendar means that even if the NBA returns and the Larry O’Brien Trophy is awarded sometime this summer,…
