The Toronto Raptors travel to the Ball Arena to do battle with the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in decent shape lately as they’ve won five of their past seven games, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting routed by the Nets in a 116-103 home loss on Tuesday. Kyle Lowry led the team with 24 points and six assists, OG Anunoby added 21 points with six assists, while Khem Birch and Malachi Flynn each scored 13 points. As a team, the Raptors shot just 39 percent from the field and 15 of 43 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to lead by six points early in the fourth quarter, before the Nets took the game away with a pivotal 16-2 run with 9:20 left on the clock. Pascal Siakam had a night to forget as he finished with just 10 points on two of 16 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been on a tear as they’ve won seven of their past eight games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight win after last night’s 114-112 home win over the Pelicans. Nikola Jokic led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, Michael Porter Jr. added 28 points while Frank Campazzo chipped in with 19 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early 14-point lead, before hanging on for the narrow win as Jokic made a clutch block on Zion Williamson who would’ve sent the game into overtime.
I will update with betting trends once they become available.
The Nuggets will likely be shorthanded again as Will Barton and Monte Morris continue to deal with hamstring injuries, but that shouldn’t slow them down as they’ll continue to pile on the wins as long as Jokic is on the court. The Raptors are coming into this game with plenty of momentum themselves as they’re finally playing some of their best basketball of the season, but their confidence took a real hit in their blowout loss to the Nets on Tuesday. This is a good spot for the Raptors to pull off the upset against a shorthanded Nuggets team, but we’re just not getting enough points from the bookies, so I’ll stick with the Nuggets at the short line.
