NBA 2K is always a way to measure how the NBA community is going to view your favourite team. How do the Toronto Raptors look?

After an offseason of major changes for the Toronto Raptors, there are a lot of opinions as to how good the team is going to be. A point of view that always gets attention: how is the team rated in NBA 2K?

As the younger generation of players takes over the league, 2K has become more and more part of NBA culture. So much so, that finding out a player or team’s rating has turned into a bit of a phenomenon.

According to HoopsHype, the Raptors landed in the middle of the pack at 18th with a 76.07 averaging player overall. That’s a rating lower than what teams like the New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, and the New York Knicks received. No question they should be rated higher than that.

However, their rating shouldn’t be taken all that seriously. The Raptors will not actually be worse than either of the Pelicans, Kings or Knicks. 2K doesn’t account for the chemistry the Raptors have, the experience or the coaching tactics when making these ratings.

One thing that holds true is that defence is the Raptors strong suit. The players you’ll use the most in the game have strong interior and perimeter defending with very impressive defensive IQ’s.

It’s the guys at the end of the bench that drop the rating so much.

2K also made the Raptors offence weaker than the defence. Most of the team’s offensive attributes are unimpressive except their three-point shooting which is a respectable 75.2 overall.

The Raptors’ overall ranking might not be what people think it should be, but for the most part, the important player’s ratings are pretty accurate.
